At the dawn of the United Nations Conference on the Oceans in 2025, the protection of our marine environment is becoming increasingly urgent. The effects of climate change are exacerbating the challenges faced by our oceans and coastlines, such as sea level rise, ocean acidification and extreme weather events. These phenomena have significant impacts on marine ecosystems and coastal communities, and threaten the sustainable use of marine resources.
In keeping with its commitment, the HUB Institute is hosting in collaboration with the Center for Sea Rise Solutions chaired by Janelle Kellman, former mayor of Sausalito (California, USA). From 8.30 am to 2 pm, this forum will be punctuated by discussions and exchanges about the current challenges and opportunities regarding the protection of our oceans and seas. We will overview topics such as where to invest efficiently, how to handle climate risks in the field of insurance, the sector of Ocean Tech Start-ups led by innovation for a sustainable future and the issue of Water Governance for and with our Territories.

SESSION 2 - Understanding Insurance and Risk in the face of changing climate conditions
Insight of the role of actors from the financial ecosystem, their strategy to adaptation through parametric insurance. Climate change changed the vision of insurances and their leverage in terms of risks regarding natural disasters such as storms, floods, torrential rains, landslides… Our goal is to identify how climate risks impact activities, and offer pre-hazard mitigation to reduce risk.Â

SESSION 3 - Innovation for tomorrow
A look into innovations, initiatives and projects led by start-ups in the field of sea and ocean protection for a sustainable future. Numerous Ocean Tech start-ups arise with solutions based on the exploitation of data or natural resources of marine origin and take a step forward in terms of sustainable development and energies. The goal is therefore to create synergies for industries, local authorities and public authorities to speed up the protection of the oceans and seabed by building on the existing ecosystem of start-ups.
Let's exchange and catalyse collaboration and concrete initiatives to preserve our marine environment and therefore our cities : How to better connect Cities and Marine Challenges ?
